Like many, I once struggled with a complete lack of confidence and shyness. I was the person so shy that the thought of standing in the middle of a room or being the centre of attention filled me with absolute dread! My training as an opera singer shifted my mindset, equipping me with practical tools and techniques to improve my communication and public speaking—skills I now share with listeners of my podcast and a long list of successful clients.
When Covid struck, it brought unexpected changes. With opera houses closed, I launched a small business, teaching professionals in finance and tech how to improve their confidence levels and public speaking skills.
My first client remains unforgettable: an entry-level employee at a major tech firm, eager to enhance her communication skills. Our sessions proved a learning curve for us both—I discovered how to best support her, while she patiently supported me as I found my footing in a brand-new world of career coaching.
What began as a modest side hustle grew into something significant. My client list expanded, and I noticed they not only enjoyed our sessions but achieved tangible results. My teaching centres on a practical, friendly approach. I value direct, constructive feedback and tailor my coaching to your goals. The clients who thrive most are those with clear objectives and ideas about how they want their sessions to unfold. My favourite clients are those who challenge me and from whom I can also learn. (You wouldn’t believe how much I’ve learnt about AI through my many hours of coaching!)
From a small venture in 2020, this work has become a lifelong passion. Watching a client deliver a speech with newfound confidence is my calling. It’s true that communication skills can help you shoot forward in your career and open doors, but achieving this requires hard work and dedication.
